Richards Bay, South Africa — MININGREVIEW.COM — 09 May 2008 – Richards Bay Coal Terminal has announced several senior appointments resulting from the imminent departure of RBCT executive chairman Kuseni Dlamini.
A media release issued here confirms that the Anglo representative on the RBCT board of directors, Ben Magara, will be the interim non-executive board chairman until a new chairman is appointed.
It adds that current chief operations officer Terence Paul Howarth has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO). Terry joined RBCT in 1984, and has occupied various senior positions within the company.
“I am delighted to be entrusted with this new challenge, and look forward to contributing further to the growth and transformation of RBCT,” he said.
Raymond Lawrence Chirwa has been appointed RBCT chief operating officer (COO). He joined RBCT in 2004 as general manager engineering, and in January 2008 moved to general manager operations. Before joining, Ray held a senior position at Eskom.
“I aim to continue to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the terminal, also ensuring a smooth completion of Phase V and the integration of new users upon commissioning,” he said.
All the above changes are effective as of 01 July 2008.
