True Gold KarmaTSX-listed True Gold Mining has temporarily suspending operations at Karma gold project in Burkina Faso due to a demonstration today at the mine that caused damage to the property and certain assets.

This follows a temporary work slowdown last month when a disturbance in a local community resulted in True Gold temporarily halting part of the construction activities at the Karma project in order to ensure worker safety.

True Gold worked closely with a delegation from the Burkina Faso Ministry of Mines as well as the regional government to address the community’s concerns and establish a timely return to normal operations.

The current demonstration has compelled True Gold to suspend operations as a precautionary measure in the interests of employee safety and project security and to allow the communities and authorities to engage with the demonstrators.

Nevertheless, True Gold remains in contact with the relevant authorities and will continue to monitor the situation and update stakeholders. The company is currently assessing the significance and potential impacts to the project schedule and plans to declare commercial production at the project at the end of 2015.
