Ghana – African Mining Services (AMS), the wholly owned subsidiary of ASX-listed diversified mining services company Ausdrill,  has entered into a contract with gold miner Perseus Mining to provide open pit mining services at its Edikan gold mine.

AMS has been providing mining services to Perseus since 2011.

The contract, to be undertaken at Edikan’s Eastern Pits operations, located in the West African country of Ghana, is for three years with an option to extend for a further two years. The contract is expected to generate approximately USD$223 million in revenue over 5 years.

Perseus Mining in April updated its life-of-mine (LoM) plan at Edikan, which is scheduled to start mining in the second quarter of 2015.

The revised LoM plan involves mining and processing of ore from seven optimised open pits, which host an ore reserve of 61.6 Mt, grading 1.2 g/t gold, for some 2.35 Moz.
